Agra, India — A wave of grief washed over the city as Manish Chandra Yadav, a 33-year-old Officer in the Merchant Navy, tragically lost his life after falling into the sea from a docked ship near Batam Island, Indonesia, on July 29, 2025. A valued officer employed by Navsug Marine Services, Manish was reportedly boarding the ship from the jetty when he slipped and vanished into the waters.

Known for his commitment and discipline, Manish hailed from Agra and held the critical position of second-in-command onboard the vessel. His colleagues describe him as professional, brave, and deeply respected within the maritime fraternity.

He is survived by his wife and two young children, who now face an irreplaceable void. Arrangements are underway to bring his body back to India, where his final rites will be performed.

This tragic incident sheds light on the often-overlooked hazards merchant navy officers face, even during seemingly routine tasks like boarding a vessel. It emphasizes the urgent need for stricter safety protocols and better crew support at docking ports.

The entire Seafaring community mourns this heartbreaking loss. Manish’s legacy is etched in the hearts of all who knew him, not only as a dedicated officer but as a loving father, husband, and son. His unwavering service to the seas will always be remembered. OM Shanti, May his soul RIP!
